It’s been a while since I have written one of these, so in order to brush off some of the rust, I will return to my annual week one tradition of making extremely bad predictions about how an overhyped QB is being overhyped. Two years ago I said Patrick Mahomes wouldn’t remain the QB1 (spoiler alert, he was), and last year I said the same about Lamar Jackson. So without further ado…there’s no way Matt Ryan and Russell Wilson can keep this pace right?

Games of the Week:

Keeper League

Gridiron Goats (186.4) v. Jones-ing for the Title (140.6)

  • A post-draft trade for Josh Jacobs ended up being a pivotal move in the week one game of the week as the second-year RB reached the end zone three times on Sunday. Of course, having Davante Adams, the only player on a starting roster that got over 40pts, didn’t hurt either. Tough draw for Jones-ing as they would have beat 6 other teams in the league this week.

Dynasty League

We Should Just Use Sleeper (225.5) v. Keenan and Kelce (175.6)

  • I don’t know a lot, but I do know that having Christian McCaffrey is better than not having Christian McCaffrey. But even without CMC this week, Matt K. still would have won. In fact, Matt K. could have kept two empty RB spots and an empty WR spot and still have secured the win. Which is an impressive feat against Odhran’s team which is one of the best teams I’ve ever seen that’s never won anything. (I can say that because I have the worst team I’ve ever seen that’s also never won anything).

Dictator League

MTautkus (193.06) v. Dormansmash (148.76) — League Median — 165.89

  • Despite the 44 point margin of victory, this match-up came down to a single position group…the wide receivers. Normally in a matchup of wide receivers, I default to the side that includes Michael Thomas. But this week, and for the foreseeable future, the team that includes Hopkins will get my vote. Dorman got struck by the injury bug early with Michael Thomas and Devante Parker struggling through injuries all week.

Trivia:

If you only counted this RB’s yards after contact, they would have finished third in total RB rush yards in week 1.
